My husband is coming into money. We had some issues with his family not wanting me to have access to it (we are in our 40's not kids), as his wife I know I have more rights than they do. However, I am afriad my husband is going to p*ss it away for lack of a better description. What is the best way to suggest to him that we handle this money jointly? His family is telling him that it's his money and he can spend it any way he wants. This is from an accident settlement, and accident that has kept him out of work for more than 2 years and made me the sole supporter of our household. I want to get ahead for once but am afraid of fighting because I want to know what he does with the money rather than take vacations, give it away and generally act like a 5 year old in a candy store... any advice?
